Model Train Day at the Depot August 17th

Mark your calendars for August 17 for our Model Train Day at the Spartanburg Depot. From 10 am to 3 pm we will have a variety of model trains to watch, and some to operate. There will be an N-Scale modular layout, an O-Gauge Lionel layout featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, a display from the Central Model Railroad and Historical Society, Model Trains Station, located in the Taylors Mill will be present, the Palmetto Division of the National Model Railroad Association will have a display, and more. Operation Lifesaver will be present with literature and handouts related to railroad safety. Our two local book authors, John Thomas Fowler and Wilson Casey will be on hand to discuss their railroad oriented books. Learn about the last train robbery in the US and about Spartanburg’s folk legend, Trotting Sally, who raced the Carolina Special, and won! We will have drinks and snacks available and the Museum and gift shop will be open. As always, admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
